SEMINAR ON “BASIC PROBLEMS ON FIGHTING AGAINST CURRUPTION” WAS ORGANIZED

Transparency Azerbaijan, with the support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), organized a seminar to discuss Basic Problems on Fighting against Corruption. The seminar was the latest in a series within the Azerbaijan Partnership for Transparency Project designed to facilitate enlightenment among youth on increasing transparency and accountability of the government institutions and processes.  The aim of the seminar was to provide the information to the youth about the measures undertaken by the government, existing problems and obstacles while fighting against corruption, as well as its reasons and solutions to eliminate those problems by the Chief Anti-corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Speaking at the event, Nazir Quliyev, public prosecutor from Preventive Measures and Investigations office of the Chief Anti-corruption Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, delivered a presentation on the tools and capabilities of the government to fight against the government.

11070635_923888044298705_8949794496464300830_o-300x199Youth and students from different universities attended the event, which centered on the steps towards fighting against corruption undertaken by the Chief Anti-corruption Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the Republic of Azerbaijan, reasons of the emerging problems and obstacles during the practical processes and the ways to solve those problems.

The second part of the seminar was devoted to interactive brainstorming discussion among the students, and at the end the expert answered all the questions of the students. Students emphasized the importance of enlarging the scope of the transparency in the government. They praised the event and mentioned that such kind of events on this topic should be continued to educate the youth in this field in the future.
