SEMINAR ON CIVIL SERVICE RECRUITMENT PROCEDURE, TRANSPARENCY AND COMBAT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN CIVIL SERVICE RECRUITMENT WITH YOUTH AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WAS ORGANIZED

Transparency Azerbaijan, with the support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), organized a seminar on Civil Service Recruitment Procedure, Transparency and Combat against Corruption in Civil Service Recruitment at Khazar University. The seminar was the latest in a series within the Azerbaijan Partnership for Transparency Project designed to facilitate enlightenment among youth on increasing transparency and accountability of government institutions and processes.

The aim of the seminar was to provide the information to the youth about the admission process to civil service, required knowledge and skills, legislative acts pertaining to this subject, as well as the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Civil Service”. Ms. Afaq Huseyn, Head of Human Resources Management and Recruitment to Civil Service Department and Mr. Vugar Asgarov, Deputy Head of the Legal Department, Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan delivered speeches.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Afaq Huseyn informed about civil service recruitment procedure, while Mr. Vugar Asgarov delivered a presentation on the information about the current situation of transparency and the type of corruption prevention measures the youth should take when they face the problems of transparency during the application. The audience was also informed about the successes and problems the state agencies cope with in practice and measures for their improvement.

The second part of the seminar that youth and students from different universities attended was organized in an interactive mode and the expert answered the questions of the students about the measures to be taken to enhance civil service recruitment process. Participants emphasized the importance of increasing transparency in this area and carrying out more innovative initiatives to make the application procedures simpler
