TRAINING ON “TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF MUNICIPALITIES” WAS ORGANIZED FOR YOUTH AND STUDENTS

13227766_1126129794074528_5824697257100249031_oTransparency Azerbaijan, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), organized a training-seminar to discuss transparency and accountability of municipalities. The event was the latest in a series within the Azerbaijan Partnership for Transparency (APT) project designed to enlighten youth on issues of transparency and accountability of government institutions and processes. Speaking at the event, Abil Bayramov, an independent expert delivered educational and informational lecture.
Youth and students from different universities attended the training, which centered on importance of transparency and accountability of local self-governance. Moreover, Bayramov spoke about institutional and legal mechanisms for maintaining transparency and accountability of municipalities as well as state and public control of municipalities. The youth also exchanged views on necessity, forms and methods of civic participation in local governance; the role of modern information technologies in assurance of transparency and accountability.
Second part of the event was devoted to interactive brainstorming discussion among the students, and at the end, the expert answered all the questions of the students regarding effective and transparent governance. Students praised the training and requested continuation of such events to educate the youth in this field in the future.
