TRANSPARENCY AZERBAIAN ELECTS A NEW BOARD

images-1Transparency Azerbaijan Public Anti-corruption Association is pleased to announce that today, the 9 March 2016 the Annual General Meeting of the organization elected a new board and its chairman. The elections have been held in line with our statutes and internal regulations that state that the board members are entitled to serve for maxim of two five year terms. Alimammad Nuriyev, President of «Constitution» Research Fund, one of the leading anti-corruption NGOs in the country; coordinator of the Information and Collaboration Network of NGO’s on Combating against Corruption and Transparency Azerbaijan board member  since December 2011  was elected to the position of the chairman of board.
Vugar Askerov, head of the legal department Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and member of the working group on improvement of legislation of Commission on Combating Corruption of the Republic of Azerbaijan; along with Hafiz Hasanov Chairman of “Law and Development” Public Association and member of Azerbaijan Bar Association; Jeyhun Atayev, Lead Manager on Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Relations, PASHA Bank and member of Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham); and the last but not the least,  Sevinc Samadzade,  National coordinator, Youth Peer Education Network (Y-PEER) and member of the UN Youth Advisory Council have been elected to serve on board.
The board composition is very diverse, thus Alimammad Nuriyev and Hafiz Hasanov will represent the civil society and legal professionals in the board; Vugar Askerov will bring the perspective of the public administration system; Jeyhun Atayev will become a spokesman for the business and finally, Sevinj Samedzade will bring the voice of the youth.
The meeting also voted to extend the employment contract of Rena Safaraliyeva as the executive director for the third term of five years (2016-2010) and to establish the Council of Founders under the Board of Directors. The founders who have also served on board for the two terms of five years welcomed the new board and wished every success to the organization.
The founders of Transparency Azerbaijan are: Sabit Bagirov, president of Entrepreneurship Development Foundation; Durdana Mammadova, Head of Department on Constitutional Issues, Constitution Court of Azerbaijan Republic; Fuad Suleymanov, independent legal expert and Rena Safaralieva, executive director, Transparency Azerbaijan.
