Government and civil society will discuss problems in water supply and their solutions

Azersu_building_200411Transparency Azerbaijan, with the support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is organizing next in the series of roundtables to facilitate dialogue between the government institutions and NGOs on ways to increase transparency and accountability. The next roundtable “Increasing transparency in water supply” is scheduled for January 28, 2015 at International Press Center, Round Hall, from 11:00 to 13:00 with the participation of the “AZERSU” OJSC. Attendees will be introduced to a set of recommendations on above mentioned issue, prepared by a group of independent experts, including representatives of civil society and experts of Transparency Azerbaijan. The officials of Baku City Housing and Utilities Department, AzeriGas PU, Baku Electric Network, Yasamal District Municipality, Ministry of Economy and Industry, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Cabinet of Ministers, Prosecutor’s Office, Anti-corruption Commission, local and international NGOs are invited to the event.

The main goal of the roundtable is to identify and discuss current deficiencies in efforts aimed at minimizing opportunities for corrupt practices in supply of water to the population and also explore ways to increase transparency and accountability in this area.

Representatives of the mass media will be able to raise questions at the end of the event.
